Ivy Agee Park – A Living Tribute in Gordonsville, TN
Nestled along Agee Drive in the heart of charming Gordonsville, Ivy Agee Park is both a beautiful greenspace and a heartfelt tribute to one of the community’s local heroes. Named in honor of Ivy C. Agee, Jr., a native son and decorated World War II veteran, the park reflects his legacy of service and community spirit.
Ivy C. Agee, Jr. was born in Gordonsville in 1923. He proudly served in the U.S. Army’s 29th Infantry Division, landing on Omaha Beach during the D‑Day invasion. He earned numerous honors, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, French Croix de Guerre, and even the French Legion of Honor.
Years later, his name was even mentioned on an episode of The Simpsons, a quirky nod highlighting his footprint beyond Tennessee.
Park Origins & Recent Upgrades
The park was developed by the Town of Gordonsville to provide a fun, inclusive gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
A major playground renovation completed in 2022 introduced new accessible swings, a merry-go-round, and fresh cedar mulch—approved by the city council and celebrated by local leaders. Further improvements like pavilion upgrades and parking updates are underway. (New shelter & Pickleball Court.)
